As your semester abroad will not exceed 6 months, you do not need a visa as a German citizen. You can enter the country with an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). Please contact the International Office if you are a citizen of another country or if you plan to complete an internship during your semester abroad.
You are responsible for booking your own flight. Once you have received confirmation from London MET, the International Office will inform you of the recommended arrival time.
In London, you can theoretically book a twin room in a London MET student residence near the Holloway Campus. However, prices are high and availability is very limited. London MET informs about numerous alternatives, and the International Office also provides helpful tips on neighborhoods and accommodations that are suitable for your semester abroad.
While studying abroad, you’ll continue paying your regular Hochschule Fresenius tuition. A one-time fee covers your semester abroad, including London MET tuition. Extra costs will include flights, accommodation, insurance, and daily living expenses. The International Office is happy to give you a rough idea of what to expect. You can also check out funding options, like “Auslands-BAföG” or the Hochschule Fresenius Merit Scholarship (“Leistungsstipendium”), to support your stay here.
Please note: A semester abroad is a required part of the B.A. programs in Tourism, Hotel and Event Management and International Business Management. Depending on your chosen destination, additional study abroad fees may apply. The International Office can provide detailed guidance and current fee information.
